The Carson-Wall
Funeral Home was formed as a merger of two existing Parsons businesses,
the Burris-Wall Funeral Home and the Carson Funeral Home, in March,
1979. The Carson Funeral Home started in Parsons in 1924. The Burris-Wall
Funeral Home was established in January, 1966 by Jack D. Burris
and Gary L. Wall across the street from the present location.
After the merger, the present facility was opened
in July, 1980. For a number of years the business was known as Burris-Carson-Wall
Funeral Home. Today, Carson-Wall Funeral Homes have four locations:
Erie, Girard, St. Paul and the newly remodeled main facility and
offices at 112 N. 26th in Parsons.
In 1982 Burris-Carson-Wall Funeral Home purchased
the W.D. Smith Funeral Home in Girard from William D. and Blandine
Smith. The firm was founded in 1880 by William Gardiner, who owned
a furniture store in Girard. The business changed hands three times
before William D. and Blandine Smith purchased it in 1957. The Smiths
continued to manage the business for several years after it was
acquired by Burris-Carson-Wall. The business moved to a new facility
in 1994.
The Pierce Funeral Home in Erie was purchased in
1986 from James B. and Mary Jo Pierce, who had operated the business
since the 1940s. Doing business as Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home,
the firm is located at 303 N. Grant Street. The building was remodeled
and redecorated in 1988.
The St. Paul location was established in 1925 and
has been in continuous operation since. Another Carson Funeral Home
operated in Walnut for many years during the ‘30s and ‘40s.
The current facility was built in 1997.
Throughout our history, Carson-Wall Funeral Homes
have recognized the importance of working for the good of the community.
We’ve been participants, volunteers and contributors to activities
and organizations that benefit the region and communities where
we are located. We know that it takes the efforts of a few to produce
the progress enjoyed by many. At Carson-Wall, we are proud of our
record of service.
